I am so very excited to say that so many changes are happening for my husband and I and the biggest one of all has to do with my teaching! We have both accepted positions in Fairfax County Public Schools for the 2016-2017 school year. WE ARE MOVING YA'LL!! This Louisiana-transplant-living-it-up-in-Florida girl is moving to Virginia! We are so excited! We knew our hearts weren't in Florida for forever but this happened so fast. Sometimes things just fall in your lap and its meant to be. I will still be in first grade which I am very excited about. Had I stayed in Florida I was being moved to 4th grade and I wasn't over the moon about it (no offense fourth"ies").
Stay tunes for more excitement and a future classroom reveal. I haven't even seen my classroom yet!! Eeeek! I am a little freaked about that.

I Love The Fall!
Fall in 1st grade is so much fun! We get to talk about pumpkins, spiders, bats, leaves, apples, and so much more! Every year in September we learn about Johnny Appleseed and apples. That leads us into pumpkins which leads us into bats, spiders, and Halloween. The kids love it and I look forward to it.
Since I have the high class this year, instead of focusing just on Johnny Appleseed, I chose to do a "Tall Tale Unit". We LOVED it!!
Here are some photos from one of my kiddos "Tall Tale Book".
You can buy this kit on TpT here.
After we finished our tall tale unit, we wrapped it up by having an apple celebration in honor of Johnny Appleseed. We had the best time and I made the best homemade apple roll-ups!
After we were done with this unit we right into learning all about pumpkins. Ooey, gooey, slimey pumpkins! We had such a great time carving into this thing. We used it for math purposes too by estimating and counting pumpkin seeds. Of course we had to make a mini book about pumpkin facts too.
SO MUCH OCTOBER FUN!!
